Definition

A derogatory term used to refer to those self-proclaimed larger than life individuals who claim (or cause to be claimed through their chicchas, whether by specific instruction thereof or their omission to prevent such claims) that no problem is unsurmountable for them, no man can withstand their prowess when the situation demands; thus, that they are nothing short of Shaktiman, Byomkesh Bakshi, Tendulkar, the ultimate dada, P. Chidambaram, etc etc and all other such personalities rolled into one, as and how the situation may warrant. An enhanced and evolved pailan but with way taller claims.

Usage

Saleem: Arre budget main daama bada diya bhai Merseedis ke. Budget main to bhi banana tha.
Jahangir: Offo! Aisa! Jaan do kaankhan.
[Saleem: Its a shame how the prices of the Mercedes have gone up post budget. This wouldnt have happened if the fiscal policy making would have been entrusted to me.
Jahangir: Really! Why dont you go the terrace and fly a kite, you good for nothing-Inter-Pass in fourth attempt.)
---------------------------------------------------
Saleem: Arre. Baazu wala isstate attack kar diya kate. Main jaarun border pe. Saat-aath sau ku uda ke aatun.
Jahangir: Saat-aath sau? Gosh layinge raat me boleto tumku darr lagta street light nai hai bolke. Ye kya kaankhan ke baatan nakko karo.
(Saleem: I believe a neighbouring country has attacked us. Am heading to the border. Will kill atleast 700-800, you wait and see.
Jahangir: 700-800? In the night, you wont come out on the road if there are no street lights. Dont talk like Shaktiman.)

Usage

Why, may I ask, are you doing what you're doing, kaalankaarthaale??!

Because this is possibly the most taboo time of day in any good Tamilian household, where nearly every conceivable activity or expression (outside of a safe and narrow prescription) is severely frowned upon. On occasion it even seems to engender more biliousness than the dreaded "Rahu kaalam" (Time of Rahu)...

The word literally translates to an equivalent of "crack of dawn" (aka "ass early in the morning"). It is a holy meditative time reserved solely for Decency, that ought not to be disturbed with Frivolities, Creativity, or Play.

Usage

-- Scene:
Hep daughter is about to depart for school bus stop. As she leaves home she puts on earphones and presses play on walkman...
-- Remonstrance:
"Kaalankaarthale Madonna music, aa? Tche tche tche. Close it!"

-- Scene:
Boy severely stubs little toe on wooden plank left on ground by forgetful grandfather after morning Sandhyavandanam (prayers)...
-- Remonstrance:
"Kaalankaarthale why are you squealing like a bandicoot? Please have some decency"

-- Scene:
Husband asks, "Sweetie, what is the date today?"
-- Retribution:
Wife responds, "What sweetie sweetie, it is almost Sankranthi! from when I've been asking you to pick up the new Deccan Herald calendar... now see, kaalankaarthale, simply so many questions for nothing!"
Husband, "Kaalankaarthale why are you fighting with me? I just want to know the date no!"
Wife, "Kaalankaarthale why are you finding fault. Have your coffee before it gets cold!"
"Kaalankaarthale, simply why are you making coffee...?"
"Wha...?"
"Er... nothing..."

Kaakapudi means to get close to someone with an ulterior motive. The crow ("kaaka") in this personifies a highly intelligent person (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crow). The way to lure or attract a crow is to go "caw-caw" and the crow will get attracted; as crows use the same call to attract other crows (Crows have also been observed to respond to calls of other species; this behavior is, it is presumed, learned because it varies regionally. ) . This could be used by crow catchers. Thus fake imitation with an ulterior motive is call kaaka pudichiying.
