Bengal's most sensational contribution to men's fashion. Similar in shape to a balaclava, though leaving more of the face exposed, hence lending the wearer a marked resemblance to the common rhesus macaque (Macaca mulatta). Traditionally worn to commemorate the advent of autumn in Calcutta, and on any other occasion where the temperature drops below 20 degrees centigrade. Extremely effective in protecting the Bengali male from his natural enemy: cold weather.
Bong 1: "Dada, I am going to Shimla tomorrow for summer vacation."
Bong 2: "Accha? Khub bhalo! Make sure to take your monkey cap and thermal underwear with you, otherwise you will get pneumonia."
