Definition

A cummerbund is a broad waist sash, usually pleated, which is often worn with single-breasted dinner jackets or tuxedos. In ancient times it was used as a waist sash for long tunics and shirts. Also used to strangle people by the thuggee cult.

Usage

The famous thuggee Behram used his cummerbund as a ruhmal with a large medallion sewn into it, to murder his victims. Behram could throw the ruhmal with one hand so as to cause the medallion to land at the adam's-apple of his victims, adding extra pressure to neck while he strangled them.
