An undefined quantity.

Usually applied to edibles that are not branded. Foodgrains, for example, packaged by Brand X are available in denominations of 100 gm, 250 gm, 500 gm, 1 kg, etc.

But a local supplier might make the same product available in the marketplace in "loose" quantities. You can walk in and buy whatever amount suits you, and pay based on its price according to weight.

Usage

"Do you have the bigger box of Planter's Honey Roasted Almonds?"

"No, all same box, sir. I have loose if you want."
