housie is a gambling game that began in Italy in the 1500s and which was brought to India by the british. Players mark off numbers on a ticket as they are randomly called out, in order to achieve a winning combination. It is commonly played in clubs such as the Bangalore club and the game is usually attended by senior citizens who sometimes take it very seriously. When a player has a winning combination he shouts out the word "HOUSIE" and then walks to the person calling out the numbers who checks if his marking has been correct. If they are incorrect, the man calling out the numbers says "BOGEY" and the player walks back to his or her table in humiliation, often accompanied by jeers from the crowd.

Usage

Alice: HOUSIE!
75 year old alice then rushes the mike where it is found out that she has marked 65 instead of 75.
Man on Mike: BOGEY!!!
Random man in hall: get yer ears checked child!!
Alice rushes back to her chair and gets back to drinking.
